The fashion industry. We love it for its creativity and self-expression, but the truth is, it's not always sustainable. At Heist, we embrace this reality, understanding our responsibility to make sustainable choices throughout the lifecycle of our products. We invite you to join us on this journey as we create more and more sustainable products. Here’s what we’re doing to make a difference…

Recycled Yarns: Giving Waste a Second Life

We're weaving a new narrative for fashion, one thread at a time. Our hero? Recycled yarns.  We use two innovative methods to create our tights sustainably:

Q-NOVA:

This pre-consumer wonder breathes new life into factory offcuts. Lightweight and breathable, our seamless tights take dye beautifully – think vibrant hosiery and intimates that don’t harm the planet (The Thirty-Five Colours, The Shimmer, The Leopard, anyone?).

Q-CYCLE:

What do tights, and tires have in common? Everything! Q-CYCLE turns plastic bottles and tires into high-performance polyamide, which is then used to make our hosiery.

It is strong, moisture-wicking, and perfect for our higher denier pieces like The Sixty & The Sixty Colours. Sustainability doesn’t have to compromise on quality!

We’ve gone above and beyond to source sustainable fabrics that genuinely look and feel incredible against your skin. Many believe choosing eco-friendly clothes means giving up style for sustainability, but it doesn't have to be a compromise. At Heist, we use the latest sustainable fabrics and technology, combined with our beautiful designs, to make sure sustainability looks and feels good.

Ethical Manufacturing: Partnering for Progress

Sustainability goes beyond fabric. It is about the human impact throughout the entire production chain. That's why we source 98% of our collection from Italian factories. Not only does this minimise our carbon footprint by reducing transportation miles, but it also allows us to foster close relationships with the people who bring our designs to life.

We make sure to partner with factory owners who share our values, using ethical practices and minimising fabric and water waste in their production processes. All our factories hold the OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification too, guaranteeing the safety of workers and minimising the environmental impact of dyes and chemicals used in our manufacturing. Our commitment to ethical and sustainable practices ensures that our impact on the world goes beyond just looking good – it feels good too.

Designed to Last: Quality Over Quantity

Sustainability starts with creating pieces you'll love for a long time. We focus on durability – remember those tights that ladder at the slightest snag? Not here. At Heist, we use double-covered yarns for extra strength, and our sheer tights boast run-resistant technology.

This means less waste and more confidence for you, so you can enjoy your favourite tights for longer.

We're not stopping at tights – we have ambitious plans to make your entire top-drawer sustainable … Watch this space!

Smart Solutions & Giving Back

We don't believe in throwing anything away. Leftover products, especially samples, find a new and empowering life through donations to incredible women's charities like Smart Works. Smart Works is a UK-based organisation dedicated to equipping unemployed women with the confidence and tools they need to secure employment. They offer interview training, professional attire, and styling advice – all designed to empower women to step into their potential.

By donating our leftover product, we ensure these garments continue to support women on their journey to career success. It is a win-win – we minimise waste and contribute to a cause that aligns perfectly with our mission to empower women to look and feel their best.

We're constantly learning and evolving. ‘Sustainable’ has been a buzzword in the fashion industry for some time now, and it’s hard to spot the difference between the virtue signallers and the genuinely eco-conscious brands. Much like the sustainability issue, there’s no easy solution to this problem. However, we want to navigate our story with sustainability in full transparency, always being honest about our credentials and efforts to better ourselves and our products. We believe in open communication, and we're committed to keeping you informed about our progress.

We're currently working towards making all our products using recycled materials, and exploring other eco-friendly options for our collections. We're committed to continuous improvement in sustainability, so you can feel good about looking good in Heist. It is not about being perfect; it's about making progress for a better future for you and the environment.

Let's redefine what fashion looks – and feels – like, together.
